Spring Care PAs

Live In care

We provide Live In Care services to adults over the age of 18.  We provide these services across East Sussex, West Sussex and Kent.

Live In Care is a provision that enables you to remain at home in familiar surroundings if it is assessed as safe for you to do so.  You will have continued choice over how you live your life, and support to retain your social and community relationships.  Even the simplest things like when you eat your meals or when you go to bed would not always remain your decision in a structured residential setting.

The Services our Live In Carers Provide:

Each care plan is different and reflects your needs and choices.  Live In Carers will generally manage all of the household tasks such as shopping, cooking, cleaning, and laundry – they can either do this as part of their duties or they can assist you to do it – our aim is always to encourage our Service Users to retain as much independence as possible.

Additionally of course they will help with personal care, medication management, continence management, accompanying you on outings and to appointments, and provide you with companionship and peace of mind.

Live In costs vary and they depend upon the complexity of the care to be provided.  If you are considering moving to a residential care setting and would like to compare costs with Live In care in your own home please call us and we will be happy to provide you with a quotation.

Understanding more about Live In Care

Will I just have one Live In Carer all the time?
This depends on whether your need is short term or ongoing.  For short term care, up to 6 weeks, you would probably just have one carer.  For ongoing placements you would have 2 carers working in a rotation, which may be 6 weeks on/1 week off or week on/week off or another rotation up to 6 weeks.

Will my Carer drive me around?
Yes, if you request that your carer is able to drive.  Most of our live in carers do not own their own car but will happily drive a vehicle that you provide.  We advise that you speak to your insurance company to make provision for live in care staff cover.

What breaks does my carer need to take during the day or week?
Live In care staff need to have 14 hours break per week taken in daylight hours.  You can decide this between you and the carer.  It may be 2 hours a day or 4 hours every other day.

If I don’t want to be left alone when my carer has a break can you arrange cover?
Yes, we can easily provide an additional service to cover breaks, minimum 2 hours at a time.

My care needs are 24 hour, will that require additional support?
Yes.  Live In carers cannot work for 24 hours a day, they must have reasonable sleep time during the night.  For 24 hour care, we can provide a quote for a Live In carer plus additional support, or perhaps 3 carers working 8 hour shifts to cover 24 hours.

I wake up during the night and need help with toileting, will your carer help me?
Yes of course.  However if your needs during the night become too great we will propose some additional support for you.

I have a cat/dog/bird.   Will your carer help to feed my pet?
Yes of course, we will write that in to your individual care plan and ensure the carer(s) who stay with you are happy to be around animals and do not have any allergies.

Will my Carer eat their meals with me?
Yes, if that is your wish.

Who pays for the Carers food?
This depends upon the care plan.  If you would like your carer to eat meals with you, then the food will be provided from your own household budget, although the carer will do the shopping and cooking.  Otherwise we provide the carer with a weekly budget to buy their own food which is charged back to you, in which case they would still do your shopping and cook your meals for you.
